For Belfius the digital revolution is a perfect opportunity to connect more closely with its client base, which is why Belfius are taking a lead in mobile banking. This strategy brings with it a lot of changes for their employees. Destination Digital was launched to guide employees through the change in mindset and skills. Destination Digital is a mobile learning platform that helps employees improve their knowledge and skills on a weekly basis in an original and fun way.

The digital ‘Destination Digital’ journey is made up out of several phases and checkpoints. Each checkpoint includes small learning bites and mini-games lasting about 3 to 5 minutes. New checkpoints are launched each week. This means each employee can learn at their own pace and helps keep things fresh.

If an employee were to get stuck or have a question, they can always contact one of 650 Digital Masters for help. These masters encourage and help employees along the way. Specifically for Digital Masters there are special webinars and checkpoints to provide them with additional information on the content and their role in the programme. They are indispensable to the success of Destination Digital.

Results

And it was most definitely a success! In just one year about 5 000 employees earned their digital certificate. 87% of participants said Destination Digital boosted their ‘digital mind’. And that’s exactly what this project set out to do. The project also got awarded with an L&D-award.

Learning Campaign

Destination Digital was a mobile first learning campaign. By spreading content out over a longer period of time, we were able to increase learner retention. This approach is called Spaced Learning.

Additionally, the content isn’t developed all at once either. This allows us to respond to current events and user feedback. So any intervention is tailor-made, topical and personal, which is essential for every attempt at behavioural or attitudinal change.
