Application training for dock workers
At the start of 2018, PSA Antwerp implemented a major update of their logistical software. For employees involved in planning and operations, this was quite the adjustment. Through its realistic learning environment the GTOS training helps them handle this change.
GTOS stands for ‘Global Terminal Operating System’. Together with TinQwise, PSA Antwerp developed a tailor-made application training consisting of 36 real-life cases.
These cases provide 200 dock workers with all the necessary information to independently learn new operations at their own pace.
The application training focusses first and foremost on bolstering employees’ self-esteem. The training lets them experience the updated software and guides them to avoid frustrations over new features. When an employee forgets how to perform an action, the application helps him find the right information in a quick and accessible manner.
The numbers don’t lie… 8 out of 10 TEU’s (twenty foot long equivalent units, better known as shipping containers) enter one of the three large PSA terminals in the port of Antwerp. Making PSA responsible for processing 10 million units or a dazzling 28 000 containers per day in 2017 alone.
The chances that you’re using goods that PSA transported either by boat, train or lorry are very high indeed. Hats off to them!
